Dow, a leader in material sciences, announced it had signed an agreement to buy Circulus, a company that recycles plastic waste into post-consumer resin (PCR), for an undisclosed sum. The purchase includes two facilities in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Arab, Alabama, with a combined capacity of 50,000 metric tons annually. The deal's closure is anticipated in the third quarter of 2024, contingent on regulatory approval.
Circulus specializes in film recycling, offering sustainable solutions to recycle plastic packaging waste into reusable materials. Following the acquisition, Dow intends to combine its expertise in developing high-performance resins with Circulus' recycling expertise. The integration will also allow Dow to extend its footprint in the circular plastics industry.
