VMware, a subsidiary of Dell that provides cloud and virtualization services, has updated its VMware Cloud Foundation and released a new version of the vSphere hypervisor.
The Cloud Foundation updates integrate networking, storage, and management, including vSAN Max scalable storage, stretched clusters, Edge configurations, quick-start app deployment templates, and improved networking. Kubernetes is now a native service for containers.
VMware claims the updates simplify management, reduce downtime, and ease upgrades and migrations. The vSphere update includes ESXi live patching, self-service infrastructure access, a local consumption interface, and a simplified console.
