OpenAI has announced plans to restrict access to its AI development software and tools for users in China and other countries.
According to a report released by the Chinese state-owned newspaper Securities Times, Chinese users of the platform received emails from OpenAI, warning that they are in a region currently not supported and that the company would be taking additional measures to block API traffic from unsupported regions from July 9.
The company also announced that it would delay the rollout of its voice features by a month to further improve the product. OpenAI stated that it was working on improving the model’s ability to detect and refuse certain content, fine-tuning its user experience, and scaling its infrastructure.
