Through a Notice of Funding Opportunity , the US Government has allocated USD 285 million from the CHIPS and Science Act to establish and operate a CHIPS Manufacturing USA Institute focused on digital twins for the semiconductor industry.
This funding aims to advance digital twin research for manufacturing, packaging, assembly, and testing processes in the semiconductor field. It will also support activities related to digital twin technology, such as basic and applied research, demonstration projects, shared facilities, and workforce training. The CHIPS Manufacturing USA Institute is the first institute launched by the Department of Commerce under the Biden administration.
