Hydrovolt, a Norwegian joint venture (JV) between Northvolt and Hydro that specializes in sustainable battery recycling, has announced plans to open a battery recycling facility in Hordain, France.
The facility will act as a collection point to discharge and dismantle batteries, with recycling capabilities to convert used batteries into black mass containing nickel, manganese, cobalt, lithium, and graphite, which can be reused to make new batteries. Hydrovolt claims it can recover up to 95% of metals from used batteries for reuse.
