Meta released its v67 update for Quest headsets, introducing an experimental feature that allows users to multitask with up to six virtual windows.
The key features of the v67 update include movable panels for multitasking, allowing users to dock three windows in a "hinged" layout and freely place and resize up to three more windows; a "Theater View" button to isolate and enlarge any one window while dimming the others; a QR code scanner for connecting to Wi-Fi (Quest 3 only); swipe typing for easier text input; improvements to eye-tracking performance on the Quest Pro; and the ability to set durations for the "Do Not Disturb" mode.
Other updates include immersive media continuity, which allows users to access and view videos from Meta Quest TV or the File Viewer without closing the current VR app, and a new Horizon Feed section that highlights content from select creators, enabling users to like posts and share them with friends.
Analyst QuickTake: The update helps bridge the gap between Quest 3’s mixed reality capabilities and Apple Vision Pro. However, Meta has yet to add its long-awaited " Augments " feature, allowing persistent spatially-anchored digital objects in a physical space, similar to the Vision Pro.
