Lavie Bio Ltd, a subsidiary of Evogene that develops bacterial compositions sprayed on plants, has announced the commercial expansion of Yalos, its bio-inoculant product, to winter wheat.
During field trials, Yalos demonstrated enhanced early vigor, biomass, root and shoot development, nutrient availability, and feed quality in winter wheat. Through advanced biological technologies, Yalos aims to reduce crop abandonment rates and increase farm productivity.
This expansion claims to double Yalos' potential market. The company expects to expand Yalos to other key crops like soybeans and canola, with ongoing field trials in North America and an expected commercial launch in 2025. Winter wheat growers across the US expect to get access to Yalos for the upcoming 2024–2025 season.
Analyst QuickTake: Lavie Bio expects the US winter wheat market to be between USD 5 billion and USD 10 billion annually. The US soybean market size is also estimated at approximately USD 56.2 billion in 2024.
