Specular Theory, an immersive training technology company, secured a substantial amount of undisclosed funding through multiple contracts with the US Air Force (USAF), including Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Air Mobility Command (AMC), and Air Force Global Strike Command's STRIKEWERX.
The funding will be used to expand the capabilities of Specular Theory's EARL VR trainer and MAT mobile VR aircraft trainer across various platforms. It will also be used to expand the Boom Air Refueling Trainer (BART) within EARL allowing boom operators to practice refueling against real receiver pilots flying in EARL.
Specular Theory specializes in creating and distributing immersive software applications for the US military and commercial enterprises. The company’s flagship product is the Experiential AAR Lightweight Simulator (EARL), a high-fidelity VR training solution designed for the USAF.
Analyst QuickTake: Specular Theory previously secured a USD 4.5 million SBIR Phase III contract to deliver VR training solutions to the USAF from 2021 to 2024. This followed the delivery of a contract with the Air Force in 2020 as well, where the company created immersive training instructions on performing air refueling.
