3devo, a manufacturer of 3D printing material processing systems, has unveiled a new method of recycling selective laser sintering (SLS) powder into 3D-printing filament.
The company claims the process transforms wasted SLS powder into reusable filament, effectively enabling the industry to conduct more frequent prototyping at an affordable price, decrease waste, and cut down operational costs.
Analyst QuickTake: The move follows the company's decision to halt outright sales of its filament recycling equipment at the end of 2023, instead opting for a subscription-based rental model. The newly unveiled process aims to convert the ~60% leftover powder waste generated by SLS and Multi Jet Fusion 2D printing technologies into filament.
