Captions, an AI-powered video creation platform, raised USD 60 million in a Series C funding round led by Index Ventures. Existing investors Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, and Andreessen Horowitz participated, as did new investors HubSpot Ventures, Adobe Ventures, and Jared Leto. This round values the company at USD 500 million.
The company plans to utilize the funds to grow its machine learning team, further invest in in-house research efforts and technical infrastructure, and continue advancing its video creation and editing technologies.
Captions offer tools like AI Creator for generating "talking videos," AI Edit for one-tap video editing, Lipdub for realistic lip movements and body language, avatars, captioning, dubbing, and audio correction. Its platform enables anyone to create studio-grade videos. Over the past year, Captions' mobile app alone has seen over 10 million downloads.
