Anthropic introduces tools to improve prompt engineering in Claude 3.5 Sonnet

Product updates

  • Anthropic has introduced new features for its language model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet. These features will allow developers to generate, test, and evaluate prompts, making applications more efficient.

  • The new features are part of the Anthropic Console, under a newly added Evaluate tab. Here, developers can test the efficacy of prompts in various scenarios. Key features include a built-in prompt generator, which converts a brief task description into an elaborate, detailed prompt, and a comparison tool, allowing developers to evaluate different prompts side by side.

  • Anthropic claims these features will benefit new users and experienced prompt engineers by saving them time. Furthermore, it argues that prompt engineering demands considerable expertise and is crucial for wider business acceptance of GenAI.
