agilon health, a company empowering physicians to transform healthcare for seniors, has appointed Karthik Rao, M.D., as its chief medical officer (CMO), effective immediately. Rao previously served as the interim CMO since February 2024.
As CMO, Rao will co-lead agilon's clinical strategy alongside Chief Clinical Officer Kevin Spencer, M.D. He will oversee the company's clinical programs and network engagement initiatives and enable provider performance across agilon's physician network and markets.
Prior to joining agilon in 2022, Rao held several roles in value-based care, including nearly a decade of experience as a practicing internal medicine physician.
