NVIDIA has partnered with Inspur, one of its top distributors in China, to create a new chip provisionally named "B20." Designed to comply with US export restrictions, the chip aims to meet ongoing demands in the market amid fierce competition from local competitors, including Huawei.
The B20 chip builds upon NVIDIA's AI offerings and is aimed at meeting the computing needs of LLMs. It follows the earlier introduction of the Blackwell series, which will enter production in 2024.
NVIDIA's AI chips, including the forthcoming B20, are claimed to deliver high-performance computation to power LLMs. Shipments of the B20 are planned to start in the second quarter of 2025.
Analyst QuickTake: NVIDIA is focused on offering better products to the Chinese market. Earlier this year, it started selling the H20 AI chip in China. However, the H20 chip is priced ~10% lower than Huawei’s Ascend 910B due to oversupply. NVIDIA also reduced the H20's performance to meet US regulations.
