Oxford Nanopore Technologies and Plasmidsaurus partner to transform plasmid sequencing market

  • Oxford Nanopore Technologies has partnered with Plasmidsaurus, a whole-plasmid sequencing provider, to expand the plasmid sequencing industry further.

  • The partnership aims to leverage Oxford Nanopore’s technology to overcome the limitations of traditional plasmid sequencing methods, such as Sanger, which were limited by short read lengths and primer dependency and are confounded by GC-rich or repetitive DNA. Oxford Nanopore technology will provide real-time, long-read sequencing compatible with GC-rich and repetitive DNA. The companies also plan to co-create new technologies, reagents, and applications to cater to future market demands.

  • Plasmidsaurus is a biotechnology company specializing in advanced DNA sequencing services. Its primary focus is on providing whole plasmid sequencing, which offers a comprehensive alternative to traditional Sanger sequencing. Its long-read sequencing technology approach helps to resolve complex regions such as inverted terminal repeats (ITRs) and GC-rich sequences. The company also offers sequencing services for long PCR products, bacterial genomes, and other custom sequencing needs.
