Califia Farms acquires Uproot Inc. to offer plant milk dispensing systems at foodservice locations nationwide

M&A

  • Califia Farms, a plant-based dairy producer, has acquired Uproot Inc., a company developing plant milk dispenser systems for foodservice, for an undisclosed sum.

  • Uproot provides a convenient and sustainable solution for dispensing plant-based milk. It operates over 150 dispensers, offering oat, soy, and chocolate pea milk at leading college and university campuses across the US and other dining locations through its program.

  • Through this acquisition, Califia Farms aims to expand its "Away From Home" portfolio and offer plant milk in a convenient dispensing solution at hundreds of colleges, universities, and other dining locations. The Uproot team, including the two founders, will join Califia Farms.

  • Analyst QuickTake: This strategic move will allow Califia Farms to leverage Uproot’s established relationships in institutional foodservice to accelerate its market presence and reach new customer bases. Moreover, Califia Farms can improve its competitive edge and solidify its position in the sector by offering plant-based milk in dispenser systems and retail channels.
