Sierra Space, a Colorado-based space company, concluded its second full-scale burst test of its inflatable module, the Large Inflatable Flexible Environment (LIFE), which the company is developing for the Orbital Reef commercial space station and its work.
The company also announced it expects to fly the module as a standalone spacecraft and to test a module with a volume of 500 m3 by 2025.
Analyst QuickTake: The LIFE module was collaboratively developed by Blue Origin and Sierra Space as both a habitation and a payload element for the Orbital Reef commercial space station. The inflatable module had initial tests, with its one-third scale of the LIFE habitat, which burst at 192 psi in September 2022 .
