Black Forest Labs, an image generation platform, has raised USD 31 million in a seed funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Brendan Iribe, Michael Ovitz, Garry Tan, Timo Aila, Vladlen Koltun, General Catalyst, and MätchVC.
The company plans to use the funding to expand its market globally.
The company also launched FLUX.1, a text-to-image model suit consisting of FLUX.1 (pro), available via API for commercial use, FLUX.1 (dev) for non-commercial use, and FLUX.1 (schnell) for individual development. The model has 12 billion parameters and leverages multimodal and parallel diffusion transformer blocks.
The Germany-based Black Forest, an image generation platform founded by the founders of Stable Diffusion, develops advanced AI and machine learning technologies. Its flagship is Flux, an AI image generation model that can create high-quality, photorealistic images from textual descriptions.
