Xpeng Aeroht raises USD 150 million for production of eVTOL cars

Funding

  • Xpeng Aeroht, a division of Xpeng Motors, an electric vehicle and smart car manufacturer, has secured USD 150 million to develop and produce its eVTOL car in Guangzhou.

  • The company also announced that it has started the next funding round as it prepares to construct new manufacturing facilities in Guangzhou.

  • Xpeng Aeroht's eVTOL car, the Land Aircraft Carrier, is a six-wheeled off-roader that can carry ~five passengers. It can release a separate two-seat airborne module, which takes off and lands vertically like a helicopter. The ground vehicle also recharges the airborne module. The company reported that the Land Aircraft Carrier pre-sales are expected to start in the final quarter of 2024.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Xpeng Aeroht released new concept video footage for its Land Aircraft Carrier in July 2024 . The company also claimed that eVTOL cars use "dirty energy" fuel sources, producing over 50% less harmful carbon pollution than conventional cars.
