Rocket Lab, a space travel and launch company, has rolled out its Advanced Satellite Dispenser (ASD) at the Small Satellite Conference in Logan, Utah.
The ASD advances the deployment of small satellites in the CubeSat form factor and builds on the company's validated Canisterized Satellite Dispenser (CSD) technology that has successfully deployed over 60 satellites during its 11-year tenure.
The satellite dispenser is claimed to be a flexible, economical, and reliable solution for satellite deployment. The ASD allows the removal of encapsulation during flight or using optional walls and doors, providing flexibility to operate with or without canisterization. The design enables satellite developers to tailor their payloads to specific mission requirements. The dispenser also employs a preloaded tab interface to ensure no slipping or gapping, ensuring mission assurance for the payload, other payloads sharing the fairing, and the launch vehicle.
Analyst QuickTake: The satellite dispenser would support Rocket Lab's future satellite launches for CubeSats. The company recently launched a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite from Synspective, aboard its Electron vehicle in August 2024 .
