Lasso Security has announced a new approach to access control for GenAI users called Context-Based-Access Control (CBAC). This method enhances security and data leak prevention by focusing on the context of requests and responses, ensuring that only authorized users access specific information.
CBAC addresses the security risks associated with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), which integrates LLMs with external data sources but lacks native access control. Integrated into Lasso Security’s GenAI security suite, CBAC monitors all interactions involving data transfer to or from LLMs, identifying anomalies or policy violations.
Unlike traditional access control methods like Role-Based Access Control and Attribute-Based Access Control, CBAC allegedly offers a more efficient and scalable solution by managing data access context-awarely. Furthermore, this approach allows organizations to leverage RAG while maintaining stringent access controls.
