Social media giant Meta has agreed to settle USD 1.4 billion in a lawsuit brought by the Texas Attorney General's office under the regulations of the 2009 Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act (CUBI).
The 2022 USD 1.4 billion lawsuit, reportedly the largest initiated under an individual state privacy law, deals with the capturing of facial recognition data across billions of photos and videos uploaded by users of Meta’s social media site Facebook.
