Mixed-reality game maker MixRift has raised USD 1.6 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Outsized Ventures, SOSV, and Underline Ventures. The funding was secured over seven weeks.
The f unds were earmarked to develop new mixed-reality titles, which aimed to be published later in 2024, and gather user feedback for improvement.
Ireland-based Mixrift, founded in 2023, has already launched two mixed-reality games: Hell Horde and Fractured. The studio aims to create easily accessible games for platforms like Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro, focusing on sticky game mechanics to attract a casual audience.
Analyst QuickTake: The funding highlights an emerging range of gaming studios creating titles that utilize mixed reality, with their popularity backed by the launches of the Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro. The round also follows mixed-reality game developer Eggscape Entertainment’s USD 4.25 million round in February 2024 .
