Enad Global 7 subsidiary Daybreak has acquired Singularity 6, the developer of the Palia metaverse, for an undisclosed sum. Singularity 6 will continue to operate independently under the leadership of its co-founders, Anthony Leung and Aidan Karabiach.
Singularity 6 aims to use the expanded resources from the acquisition to invest in development, bring Palia to its 1.0 launch, and make the game available across multiple platforms.
Enand Global 7 is a video game publishing holding company for multiple game studios (Piranha Games, Toadman Studios, Daybreak Games, Big Blue Bubble, and Fireshine Games). Daybreak Games has developed numerous PC gaming titles, such as Planetside 2 and DC Universe Online.
Analyst QuickTake: The news follows multiple rounds of layoffs at Singularity 6 (35% of staff in April 2024 and ~40% of staff in May 2024), given the difficulty of maintaining player interest. Additionally, the acquisition will allow Singularity 6 to expand Palia across new distribution platforms, having launched the game on the Epic Games Store in October 2023 .
