Soft Robotics, a provider of robotic gripping systems, has announced the sale of its gripper business assets to the Schmalz Group. It has also rebranded itself as Oxipital AI.
The divestiture and rebranding is due to the shift of the company's focus toward developing and commercializing its visual AI solutions. These solutions are designed to enhance product inspection and robotic picking.
Analyst QuickTake: Soft Robotics launched mGripAI technology in January 2022, specifically targeting the food industry. Later, the technology was expanded to the consumer goods, ecommerce, and logistics sectors. This divestiture and reform comes under the leadership of President and CEO Mark Chiappetta, who was appointed in February this year.
