Carbios and FCC Environment UK partner to study implementation of PET bio-recycling plant

Partnerships

  • Carbios, a biotech firm that recycles PET plastics and polyester fibers using an enzymatic process, is partnering with UK waste management company FCC Environment. The partnership aims to study the possibility of implementing a UK-based plant using CARBIOS' PET bio-recycling technology.

  • The proposed plant would leverage Carbios’ PET bio-recycling tech, supporting FCC's efforts to create new methods to produce recycled PET from plastic and textile waste. The technology offers efficient, solvent-free recycling of hard-to-recycle PET waste, transforming it into high-quality recycled PET.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Carbios’ latest partnership for its recycling technology follows its partnership to license its recycling technology to Turkey-based polyester manufacturer SASA in August 2024 . The most recent partnership will expand the France-based company’s UK footprint while also aligning with the UK's policy of continuously moving toward a more circular economy.
