Eko Health partners with LSU Athletics to provide AI-enabled digital stethoscopes for student-athletes

Product updates

  • Eko Health, an AI-powered cardiac care company, has partnered with Louisiana State University (LSU) Athletics and healthcare provider Our Lady of the Lake Health to provide AI-enabled digital stethoscopes for student-athlete care.

  • Through the partnership, LSU Athletics has become the first college sports program to use Eko Health's FDA-cleared CORE 500 digital stethoscopes and AI algorithms to detect heart conditions in student-athletes early. The technology will be used during physical exams to improve the accuracy of diagnosing potential cardiac issues such as atrial fibrillation and heart murmurs.

  • The partnership aims to enhance preventive care and heart health monitoring for LSU student-athletes. Healthcare providers from Our Lady of the Lake Health, which functions as LSU Athletics' Championship Health Partner, will use the AI-powered stethoscopes during routine examinations starting in the summer of 2024.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Historically, Eko Health has been partnering with healthcare providers to implement its devices in medical institutions. For example, in November 2023, it partnered with the TRICORDER program to roll out its devices on a large scale across 100 General Practitioner (GP) practices across the UK. However, the latest partnership with LSU expands Eko Health’s device’s potential applications across academic institutions, opening up its potential to further diversify its market presence.
