Bee Planet, Galp, and BMW partner to launch project to reuse EV batteries

  • Bee Planet, a Spain-based company that develops solutions for end-of-life batteries, has partnered with Galp, a Portugal-based energy company, and BMW to launch an energy storage system named "Second Life Batteries.” This system aims to recycle end-of-life EV batteries to power rapid charging systems for EVs.

  • The Second Life Batteries system consists of a container with a capacity of 368 kWh. It's connected to two 180 kW chargers, which are claimed to be capable of charging up to nine cars successively with minimal grid electricity usage. The project was launched at an Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, service station.
