Symbotic, a provider of end-to-end automated warehouse solutions, has acquired Veo Robotics, an innovator in intelligent safeguarding for industrial robots, for USD 8.7 million. The deal was closed in July 2024.
Veo Robotics developed the FreeMove 3D depth-sensing computer vision system for industrial work cells. This system monitors collaborative robot work cells to dynamically anticipate the future position of humans and objects within the robot's environment, autonomously restricting or resuming motion to ensure worker safety and efficiency.
Symbotic plans to improve productivity by integrating FreeMove into its robotic warehouse system, allowing better coordination between humans and machines. The acquisition also brings the former Veo Robotics team to Symbotic, where they will continue their work on enhancing safety in environments where humans interact with robots.
