Space Perspective, a Florida-based luxury space experience company, has completed the construction of its marine spaceport equipped with stratospheric balloons, which will take tourists to the edge of space.
The Marine Spaceport (MS) Voyager, which took two years to construct, is 294 ft long and equipped to launch and retrieve the spaceflight experience company's SpaceBalloons. These pressurized modules can transport travelers on a six-hour journey to the edge of space.
Space Perspective reported that it is the first-ever spaceport for human spaceflight on open water, located on the Space Coast of Florida. It also reported that the spaceport has extra maneuverability, is built with four generators and four engines, has Mission Control on its bridge, and has support equipment for the capsule that will hang beneath its balloons.
Analyst QuickTake: Space Perspective unveiled its luxurious space balloon, the Spaceship Neptune, in February 2024 . The interior design includes accommodations for eight passengers, cushioned chairs facing outward to view the planet, a bar station, and a bathroom. Spaceship Neptune has a radiator system that mitigates the effects of the high levels of solar radiation and heat regulation to reflect harmful UV wavelengths without compromising the view. Spaceship Neptune capsules are designed to be reusable and to be flown mostly autonomously.
