Rumpke Waste & Recycling, a US-based waste pickup and recycler, has launched what it claims is the largest and most technologically advanced recycling facility in North America, the Rumpke Recycling & Resource Center in Columbus, Ohio. The facility represents a USD 100 million investment and can process up to 250,000 tons of recycling materials annually.
The 226,000-square-foot recycling plant is equipped with 19 optical scanners, 4 ballistic separators, 10 AI units, and nine vacuum systems for plastic removal. It can sift through materials at a rate of 60 tons per hour, servicing over 50 counties in Ohio.
Analyst QuickTake: The company undertook a USD 50 million investment for the plant’s construction in February 2022 . At the time, the plant was slated to become the fifth-largest recycling facility in North America once completed.
