Aleph Zero, a blockchain ecosystem focused on privacy and efficiency, has launched its new Ethereum-compatible layer-2 solution on its mainnet. The new EVM layer is built in partnership with Gelato, a rollup-as-a-service provider, and uses Arbitrum Orbit technology.
The new layer-2 solution utilizes Aleph Zero's Substrate-based WASM layer-1 as its data availability layer and integrates with zero-knowledge operating system (zkOS) privacy tools. It features block times of 250 milliseconds, near-instant transaction finality, and can process thousands of transactions per second. AZERO, the ecosystem token, will be used for transaction fees.
In addition, the company plans to introduce the zkOS privacy toolkit in Q4 to reduce zk proving time and integrate privacy features into blockchain applications.
Founded in 2017, Aleph Zero is a layer-1 blockchain platform that utilizes a consensus protocol called AlephBFT. The protocol aims to address scalability and security challenges in blockchain technology.
