Amazon has launched a GBP 500 million (~ USD 640 million) robotic fulfillment center in Leeds, UK as a part of its GBP 1.5 billion (~ USD 2 billion) investment in West Yorkshire since 2010.
The facility, located in the Gateway 45 logistics park, features advanced Amazon Robotics technology across three floors to manage customer orders. This new center is expected to generate 2,000 jobs by November, including roles in engineering, HR, IT, health and safety, and finance.
Analyst QuickTake: Amazon has always been actively involved in automating its warehouse and fulfillment center operations, with some of the most recent additions being its robotic-equipped 4 million sq ft warehouse in North Andover, Massachusetts (opened in April 2024) and a robotic-powered warehouse center in Germany (opened in May 2024).
