xAI has launched Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini in beta. These new AI models are available to Premium and Premium+ users on X (formerly Twitter). The models offer improved reasoning capabilities and introduce image generation features on X.
Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini are described as significant improvements over the previous Grok-1.5 model. They offer enhanced capabilities in chat, coding, and reasoning. The new image generation feature allows users to create images directly on the X platform, using FLUX.1 by Black Forest Labs for image creation.
Analyst QuickTake: This news comes a month after the company announced the planned release of Grok 2 and Grok 3 AI models. xAI plans to make both models available to developers through its enterprise API later this month. The company also intends to integrate Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini into various AI-driven features on X, including improved search capabilities, post analytics, and reply functions. In April this year, the company also launched Grok-1.5V , a multimodal model capable of interpreting textual and visual data. xAI's flagship offering, Grok, which is offered exclusively on the X platform, competes with the likes of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
