Raven SR, a renewable fuel company, has announced that its planned waste-to-hydrogen production facility in Zaragoza, Spain, has been declared "A Project and Investment of Regional Autonomous Interest" by the Regional Ministry of Presidency, Economy, and Justice of the Government of Aragón. This designation allows accelerated and reduced administrative deadlines.
The facility, expected to be operational by 2026, will be the first of its kind in Europe. It will use Raven SR's proprietary Steam/CO2 Reforming technology to convert organic waste into sustainable hydrogen. The plant is designed to produce 75 kg of transport-grade hydrogen for each ton of organic waste, with a daily output of approximately 5,250 kg and an annual total of about 1.8 million kg.
Analyst QuickTake: This announcement follows Raven SR being awarded a EUR 1.4 million (~USD 1.5 million) grant from Spain's Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) in July 2024 to develop the facility.
