HDF Energy, a French hydrogen developer, has signed an MoU with Tunisia's Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy to develop a large-scale green hydrogen project. The project aims to serve both the European market and domestic needs, with an initial investment of about EUR 3 billion.
The proposed project has a potential capacity of 1 GW of wind power, 500 MW of solar PV energy, and 800 MW of electrolyzers. It is expected to produce up to 65 kt of hydrogen, which will be exported to Europe through the SoutH2 corridor, a hydrogen pipeline project connecting North Africa to Italy, Austria, and Germany.
