US Air Force extends contract with SandboxAQ to develop AQNav technology for GPS-denied environments

Partnerships

  • Quantum-AI company SandboxAQ has received an SBIR Phase IIB Tactical Funding Increase (TACFI) from the US Air Force to further develop its AQNav magnetic navigation system.

  • The extended contract (initiated in January 2023) aims to explore additional configurations of AQNav, including a pod-based attachment, for deployment on a wider range of aircraft platforms, such as unmanned aerial systems. AQNav uses AI, quantum sensors, and Earth's magnetic field to provide unjammable, un-spoofable navigation without relying on GPS, having already logged over 200 flight hours on various aircraft types.

  • This partnership addresses the critical need to maintain tactical air dominance in contested environments where GPS spoofing and jamming may occur, offering a secure and precise navigation solution for military applications.
