Skyports, a UK-based air taxi and drone logistics company, has unveiled designs of its UK vertiport for eVTOL air taxis, developed along with its partners Bicester Motion, a UK-based provider of mobility technology, and Vertical Aerospace, a UK-based global aerospace and technology company.
Skyport’s new vertiport, developed as part of the British Advanced Mobility Ecosystem Consortium, is reportedly the first permanent UK vertiport infrastructure proposal to receive planning approval.
The vertiport will commence construction in August 2024 and will feature a 160 sq ft passenger terminal. This terminal would facilitate testing for ground infrastructure and flight operations and support the operations of low-noise eVTOL aviation in the UK. The interior will have vertiport technology solutions, including Skyport’s Resource Management and Scheduling System (RMSS) and Vertiport Automation System (VAS).
The Skyports vertiport’s first scheduled flight will be for its partner, Vertical Aerospace’s VX4 eVTOL prototype, unveiled in July 2024 .
