NASA launches two Pathfinder CubeSats

Industry news

  • NASA has launched two CubeSats, the PTD-4 and PTD-R, from its Pathfinder Technology Demonstrator (PTD) aboard SpaceX's Transporter-11 rideshare mission. The satellites will support NASA's efforts to enhance novel technologies and increase small spacecraft capabilities.

  • The two CubeSats used a 6U spacecraft, Triumph, which is common to all PTD satellites. The PTD-4 will demonstrate a high-power, low-volume, deployable solar array with an integrated antenna. At the same time, the PTD-R will test simultaneous ultraviolet and short-wave infrared optical sensing from space using two 85-milimeter aperture monolithic telescopes placed side-by-side.
