As reported by The Information, Meta has halted plans for a high-end mixed reality headset, codenamed "La Jolla," which was intended to compete with Apple's Vision Pro.
The decision was influenced by the high cost of micro-OLED displays, which made it difficult to keep the headset's price under USD 1,000, and concerns about the market appetite for premium VR devices.
Despite this setback, Meta continues work on other headsets and mixed reality tech, including a more affordable Quest headset, new AR glasses, and the Quest 4, rumored to have standard and premium versions arriving in 2026.
