Spinnova, a Finnish sustainable textile fiber producer, has partnered with global paper, pulp, and energy technology company Valmet to boost the production of Spinnova Fiber, an eco-friendly textile fiber derived from wood pulp or waste.
The partnership aims to advance Spinnova's technology and achieve cost-efficient targets. The partners claim it also opens up opportunities to attract more customers involved in material processing and pulping businesses. Valmet will also be the exclusive equipment supplier for the process for an unspecified limited time, involving an exclusivity fee based on realized project deliveries.
Valmet also supplies the drying technology for the Woodspin factory, which produces Spinnova Fibre. This factory is operated as a joint venture between Spinnova and Suzano, launched in 2020. Spinnova reports that the partnership’s financial impact will not significantly affect the company’s fiscal predictions for 2024.
