The Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA) has fined Uber EUR 290 million (USD 324 million) for violating EU data protection standards by transferring European taxi drivers' personal data to the US without adequate safeguards.
The DPA found that Uber's data transfers constituted a serious violation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), particularly after the EU invalidated the EU-US Privacy Shield in 2020.
