Myceen, an Estonia-based startup developing mycelium-based building materials, has reportedly secured over EUR 2 million (~USD 2.2 million) in grants in 2024. Additionally, the company announced that it plans to launch a seed round of EUR 1 million–1.5 million. Myceen's investors include Mistletoe Japanese Impact Fund, EIT Climate KIC, Enterprise Estonia, and others.
The funding will support Myceen's move to a larger production facility, the development of industrial production technology for mycelium-based building materials, and the commercialization of sustainable insulation solutions.
Myceen has shipped products to over 15 countries, including the US and Singapore. The company plans to test its insulation materials in a pilot house in collaboration with the Timber Architecture Research Center, with completion scheduled for Q4 2024.
