Myceen raises EUR 2 million in grant funding to expand bio-based building material production

Funding

  • Myceen, an Estonia-based startup developing mycelium-based building materials, has reportedly secured over EUR 2 million (~USD 2.2 million) in grants in 2024. Additionally, the company announced that it plans to launch a seed round of EUR 1 million–1.5 million. Myceen's investors include Mistletoe Japanese Impact Fund, EIT Climate KIC, Enterprise Estonia, and others.

  • The funding will support Myceen's move to a larger production facility, the development of industrial production technology for mycelium-based building materials, and the commercialization of sustainable insulation solutions.

  • Myceen has shipped products to over 15 countries, including the US and Singapore. The company plans to test its insulation materials in a pilot house in collaboration with the Timber Architecture Research Center, with completion scheduled for Q4 2024.
