Canadian plant-based seafood company New School Foods has raised USD 6 million in a seed extension round led by Inter IKEA, with participation from Good Startup, NewTree Capital, and Hatch.
The funds will support New School Foods' upcoming launch in US and Canadian restaurants. The company has also opened a 28,000 sq ft. pilot production facility in Toronto, housing its V1 Commercial Assembly Line, to begin production of its whole-cut salmon filet.
Analyst QuickTake: New School Foods’ last funding round was in February 2023 , when it raised USD 12 million in seed funding to scale up operations and build a research and production facility. Further, the company received an investment from PIC to develop and commercialize plant-based whole-muscle salmon with a taste and texture akin to real salmon.
