SkyDrive raises additional funding through Series C round

Funding

  • SkyDrive, a Japanese developer of eVTOL and heavy-lift cargo drones, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding through a Series C funding round. The funding round included participation from Inventum Ventures, Osaka Metro Co. Ltd., Energy & Environment Investment Inc., and Mizuho Bank Ltd.

  • The funding raised brings the total raised across SkyDrive's three Series C funding rounds to JPY 8 billion (~USD 55.3 million).

  • SkyDrive reported that the funding will upgrade its facilities and organization for ground and flight testing to accelerate its eVTOL development and certification. Furthermore, the company will also use the funding to improve its quality assurance and other key departments to transition to mass aircraft production.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The funding announcement comes right after SkyDrive partnered with its investor , Osaka Metro Co. Ltd., the same week in August 2024, to conduct a feasibility study on using eVTOL aircraft and integrating eVTOL with daily modes of transportation in Osaka, Japan.
