OpenAI and Anthropic, a company specializing in developing AI models and apps, have signed Memorandums of Understanding with the US AI Safety Institute to provide access to its new AI models before and after public release.
The US Government will collaborate with its UK counterpart to provide feedback on safety improvements, evaluate safety risks, and mitigate potential issues.
Analyst QuickTake: OpenAI and Anthropic have received significant investments from major tech firms that have drawn regulatory attention. In August, the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigated Amazon's USD 4 billion investment in Anthropic, whereas, in April, EU antitrust regulators reviewed Microsoft's USD 13 billion investment in OpenAI, ultimately deciding it didn't warrant a formal investigation.
