Amazon has reportedly collaborated with AI startup Anthropic to enhance Alexa's capabilities using Anthropic's Claude.
The partnership aims to improve Alexa's performance for a new version, which is set to launch in October. This update will offer more advanced AI capabilities for complex queries, with Amazon planning to charge USD 5 to USD 10 monthly for the service. The decision to use Anthropic's technology reportedly comes after Amazon's in-house AI models faced performance issues, including slow response times.
Analyst QuickTake: Earlier this year, Amazon also partnered with GenAI-based chatbot startup Character.ai to integrate GenAI tools into Alexa. However, it's uncertain whether Amazon has ended this collaboration or is exploring using AI bots from various companies to enhance Alexa's capabilities.
