Carbyon, a Netherlands-based direct air capture (DAC) startup, has secured EUR 15.3 million (USD 16.9 million) in a Series A funding led by new investors Siemens Financial Services, Omnes Capital, and Global Cleantech Capital. This round brings the company's total funding to over USD 27 million.
The funding will be used to develop its first full-scale outdoor DAC demonstrators and prepare for commercialization. The company plans to test its first models at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven and deliver them to pilot partners for field testing.
In addition, Carbyon plans to scale up production to 50,000 units per year by 2031 and to the gigaton scale by 2050. Existing investors Invest-NL, Innovation Industries, Lowercarbon Capital, and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) also participated in the round.
