Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon revealed that the partnership between Qualcomm, Samsung, and Google is related to developing mixed reality smart glasses that can connect to smartphones.
The glasses are intended to be a companion device for smartphones, aiming to be as common and comfortable as regular glasses or sunglasses. They would also incorporate GenAI features.
While specific details are limited, Amon mentioned that AI will run on the device, in the cloud, and partially on the glasses and phone. The partnership, announced in February 2023, had initially sparked rumors of a Samsung mixed reality headset to compete with Apple's Vision Pro.
