Indorama Ventures and Varun Beverages partner to build PET recycling facilities in India

Partnerships

  • Indorama Ventures, a leading producer of virgin and recycled PET resins, has partnered with Varun Beverages, a PepsiCo bottling company, to establish PET recycling facilities in India.

  • The joint venture aims to build two PET recycling facilities in Kathua and Khurdha, with completion expected by 2025. The facilities will have a combined annual capacity of 100 kilotonnes of recycled PET. This partnership aligns with India's regulatory requirements, which mandate 30% recycled plastic content in packaging by 2025–2026.

  • Analyst QuickTake: In July 2024 , the company secured USD 200 million from IFC to launch new recycling plants in Indonesia and India. The plant in India will contribute toward supporting the company’s goal of recycling 750,000 tonnes or 50 billion bottles annually by 2025.
