Hyzon to commence series production of Class 8 fuel-cell electric trucks

Product updates

  • Hyzon Motors, a hydrogen truck manufacturer, has announced the Start of Production (SOP) for its Class 8 200kW fuel-cell electric (FCEV) Truck in partnership with Fontaine Modification. This company specializes in customizing and modifying heavy-duty trucks and tractors. The milestone marks the truck's transition from the prototype to the series production stage.

  • Fontaine Modification will assembly and produce the FCEVs in Charlotte, North Carolina, integrating fuel-cell systems, battery packs, and hydrogen storage systems provided by Hyzon.

  • Hyzon also reportedly plans to declare the SOP of its single-stack 200kW Fuel Cell System (FCS) at its production facility in Bolingbrook in the upcoming weeks.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The announcement comes despite a series of operational challenges for Hyzon. In June , the company announced plans to realign its strategic priorities to focus on its core North American markets and subsequently announced plans to halt its operations in the Netherlands and Australia. In August, Hyzon received a delisting determination from Nasdaq due to its share price remaining below USD 0.10.
